Brian Callen is an American actor and stand-up comedian. He is best known for his work as a cast member on the sketch comedy series "MADtv" and for his roles in various films.
Early Life and Education
Brian Christopher Callen was born on January 26, 1967 in the Philippines. Raised by a single mother, he and his twin sister had a nomadic childhood, traveling to countries such as India, Pakistan, Lebanon, and Greece. Eventually, his family settled in the South Bronx, New York.
Callen has a distinctive appearance due to his mixed Scottish, Irish, and American heritage. He discovered his talent for performing at a young age, driven by the need to support himself. Recognizing his natural comedic abilities, he decided to pursue a career in the arts.
After graduating from high school, Callen enrolled as a drama major at the American University in 1985 on a scholarship. He graduated with honors and a bachelor's degree.
Career
In 1993, Callen moved to Los Angeles in search of opportunities for his career. He began performing stand-up comedy and hosting his own shows, which led to his breakthrough in 1995 when he landed a role on the television series "MADtv". This sketch comedy show became a turning point in his career and propelled him to fame.
Callen portrayed various characters on "MADtv", including impressions of Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Jim Carrey, Albert Gore, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and others. His talent was quickly recognized, leading to numerous acting opportunities.
Throughout his career, Callen has appeared in popular television shows such as "Sex and the City", "7th Heaven", "The King of Queens", "Las Vegas", "Law & Order", "NYPD Blue", "Suddenly Susan", "The West Wing", and many more. He has also starred in films like "Bad Santa" and "Old School" (2003), as well as "Scary Movie 4" (2006).
One of his recent notable roles was in the comedy film "The Hangover" (2009), released in Russia as "The Bachelor Party in Las Vegas". He is expected to appear in another film set to be released in 2010.
Currently, Callen resides in Venice, California, and has a dream of purchasing a helicopter.
