Brian J. Smith, an American actor, is renowned for his captivating performances as Officer Will Gorski in Netflix's "Sense8" and Lieutenant Matthew Scott in "Stargate Universe." Born in Allen, Texas, he embarked on his acting journey at Collin County Community College's Quad C Theater program.
Early Career
Smith's first major role came as Alex in Quad C Theater's production of "A Clockwork Orange." In 2005, he portrayed Trey, a homosexual facing intolerance from a fundamentalist preacher's son, in the independent film "Hate Crime." After graduating from Juilliard with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, he briefly considered joining the U.S. Army due to setbacks in his career.
Breakthrough Roles
However, Smith's fortunes soon turned when he secured roles in "Red Hook" and "The War Boys." In 2008, he made his Broadway debut in "Come Back, Little Sheba." His career took off with his acclaimed portrayal of Lieutenant Matthew Scott in "Stargate Universe" from 2009 to 2010.
