Bruce Campbell is an American actor, producer, and director best known for his portrayal of Ash Williams in Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" film series.

Early Life and Career

Born in Birmingham, Michigan, Campbell began his acting career as a teenager, appearing in student films and community theater productions alongside his father. In 1978, he starred as Ash Williams in Raimi's short film "Within the Woods."

The "Evil Dead" Franchise

Campbell's breakthrough role came in 1981 with the release of Raimi's horror classic "The Evil Dead." Drawing heavily on the plot and techniques of "Within the Woods," Campbell not only starred in the film but also played a significant role in its production, earning a co-producer credit. The success of "The Evil Dead" led to two further sequels, "Evil Dead 2" and "Army of Darkness."

Collaboration with Sam Raimi

Raimi continued to cast Campbell in supporting roles throughout his career, including all three installments of the "Spider-Man" trilogy (2002-2007).
