Ricardo Bastos, a renowned Portuguese defender, emerged from the esteemed Benfica Football Academy in Lisbon.
Early Career
Despite his Benfica upbringing, Bastos' professional debut was with Alverca. He returned to Benfica in January 1998, adding two more seasons to his tally there.
European Odyssey
In 1999, Bastos embarked on a European adventure. He spent four and a half seasons with Bordeaux, half a season with Feyenoord in 2005, and six months with Saint-Étienne, where his appearances were limited.
Return to Portugal
In 2006, Bastos returned to Portugal and signed with Nacional. However, his appearances there were also scarce.
Russian Stint
In January 2008, Bastos joined the Russian club Shinnik Yaroslavl. He played alongside his compatriot, Ricardo Silva.
Later Career
On June 22, 2009, Bastos was released from Shinnik due to limited playing time. His subsequent professional moves remain unknown.
