Commanding the Division of Mobiles

After the surrender of Metz, Gambetta appointed Kremer to lead the Division of Mobiles. On December 18, 1871, at Nuits, Kremer and his troops exhibited extraordinary valor, inflicting significant losses on the enemy.

Flanking General Bourbaki's Army

During General Bourbaki's march towards Belfort, Kremer commanded the left wing. On January 15, he triumphed at Schenebier, but was forced to cross the Swiss border on the subsequent day.
