Biography of Carl Kennedy

Carl Kennedy is an American drummer and music producer, known for his work with bands such as The Rods, Manowar, and Thrasher. He received his first drum set at the age of 5 and began playing in his first band at the age of 11.

Early Career

In the late 1970s, Kennedy played alongside his cousin Ronnie James Dio, David Feinstein, and Joey DeMaio in David Feinstein's Thunder. In 1979, shortly after DeMaio's departure, Feinstein and Kennedy formed the band The Rods. In 1980, Kennedy participated in a demo recording for Joey DeMaio's new band, Manowar, where he served as the drummer and producer. However, he left the band soon after the recording and was replaced by Donnie Hamzik.

The Rods and Production Work

During the 1980s, Kennedy recorded five albums with The Rods and became actively involved in music production. He produced albums for bands such as Anthrax ("Spreading the Disease"), Exciter ("Violence & Force"), Overkill ("Feel the Fire"), and many others.

Later Career

In the 1990s, Kennedy joined the Jeffrey James Band. In 2008, Kennedy and Feinstein revived The Rods and released their sixth full-length album, "Vengeance," in 2011. On November 15, 2014, Kennedy released his debut solo album, "Headbanger," which was funded through the Kickstarter website.
