Born Elizabeth Grant in New York City, Lana Del Rey is an American singer and songwriter who describes herself as "Nancy Sinatra in the style of gangsta." Influenced by artists such as Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, and Kurt Cobain, she developed a unique musical style that garnered attention in the music industry.

Growing up in Lake Placid, New York, Del Rey's father, Rob Grant, was a network investor who supported her in the early stages of her career. She obtained her higher education at Fordham University in New York, where she came up with the stage name Lana Del Rey, which reminded her of the Cuban shores.

Del Rey's musical journey began with the release of her first three-track album called "Kill Kill" in October 2008, under the pseudonym "Lizzy Grant." She then released her first studio album, "Lana Del Rey aka Lizzy Grant," in January 2010, working with independent label producers, including David Kahne.
