Carla Maria Zampatti was born in 1942 in Lovero, Italy. However, in 1950, she moved to Australia with her family. In 1965, Carla created her first clothing collection and registered her own brand, 'Carla Zampatti Limited'.

Carla opened her first boutique in Sydney in 1972 and expanded her business over the years. Under the brand name 'Carla Zampatti Pty Ltd company', she eventually had 30 boutiques.
