Biography of Karen Davis

Karen Davis, an American rower, is a member of the United States national team in women's rowing. She was born on April 14, 1982, in Ithaca, New York, and currently resides in Princeton. The Olympic Games in Beijing marked the second stage of such competitions for Karen Davis. Four years ago, she was a member of the women's eight national team of the USA. As part of this team in Athens, Karen Davis managed to win a silver medal. Over the eight years that Davis dedicated to competing for the national team, she participated in five World Championships, winning four gold medals. In 2002, she won a gold medal as part of the women's eight, and the following year, the success was repeated, but this time as part of the non-Olympic women's quadruple sculls. In Athens 2004, the women's eight not only won a silver medal but also set a record in the qualifying competition. Davis was a member of the team that won gold medals in the last two World Championships.

Early Life and Training

As a freshman in high school, Davis had to move from Ithaca, New York to Australia, where her father was on a year-long vacation. It was in Australia where Davis learned rowing. After a year of intense training, Davis was named the most promising athlete in the entire training club. Upon returning home, Davis continued her training in high school, but the training program was poorly developed, and the young athlete decided to train independently.

Achievements and Education

In 1999, Davis formed a junior team and became part of the first women's team to win a gold medal at the Junior World Championships in 2000. In 2001, Davis managed to join Harvard, where she competed for the Radcliffe team throughout all four years. In 2003, as part of the women's eight, Davis won the NCAA Championship, and in 2005, the team took third place. Davis graduated from university in 2005, receiving a degree in psychology. In addition to rowing, Davis is interested in yoga, which she became interested in during her recovery from a back injury she sustained in her first year of college. At first, she was only interested in the physical aspect of yoga, but later she turned to the spiritual side as well. Currently, Davis intends to teach yoga to her teammates.
