Achievements

In the 2008 World Championships, Heikel and her partner, Jen Goldsack, won the silver medal. She earned a bronze medal in the quadruple sculls in 2004 and a second-place finish in the lightweight double sculls in 2005. Heikel's success can be attributed to her partnership with Goldsack, whom she met in 2007. While training for the national team selection, Heikel formed a friendship with Goldsack, who had relocated from the United Kingdom, where she also competed for the national team. Although Heikel did not qualify for the national team, she continued to train with Goldsack, who was preparing for the World Championships. This led to their partnership and becoming a unified team.

Early Years and Education

Heikel did not participate in sports during high school and only became interested in rowing at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia. She joined the Philadelphia Rowing Club and began her career in the summer of 2001 in the coxless pairs event. Initially, Heikel aspired to become a member of the Peace Corps and pursued a degree in English language at college. However, due to administrative complications, her application was lost during the events of September 11, 2001, in New York City. Consequently, Heikel shifted her focus, continued her training, and enrolled in law school.

Personal Life and Interests

To fully dedicate herself to training, Heikel took an academic leave from law school and plans to resume her studies after the Olympics. In her free time, she pursues creative writing and enjoys activities such as yoga, running, and swimming.
