Biography of Catherine Oxenberg

Catherine Oxenberg is an actress who gained real fame for her role as Amanda Carrington in Aaron Spelling's famous series "Dynasty".

Early Life and Education

Catherine was born in New York City, USA. When she was 4 years old, her parents divorced, and her mother remarried and settled in London with Catherine. She lived in London until the age of 14 and then returned to the US. She attended the private college "St. Paul's School," which prepared students for admission to Harvard.

During her time at college, Catherine became so passionate about theatrical productions that she decided to postpone her studies for a year at Harvard to focus on acting courses with Stanley Zareff and Joanne Baron. Eventually, she continued her education at Columbia University, where she studied philosophy, psychology, and mythology.

Modeling and Acting Career

While studying at Columbia University, Catherine became involved in modeling as an experiment. However, she found that modeling had a significant drawback - the models were always aware of the camera and posed, making their behavior less natural.

Catherine's interest in the dramatic arts grew with her interaction with the great theater and film actor Richard Burton, who made an offer to her mother in 1974. Her first acting role was as Princess Diana in the film "The Royal Romance: Charles and Diana". After the role of Diana, Catherine took a break from acting for almost two years due to her relationship with Manuel de Prado, a 31-year-old Spanish banker. However, this relationship soon ended.

Ten years later, she played the role of the beautiful princess again in the film "Charles and Diana: A Life of Unhappiness". This time, Catherine portrayed her character from a different perspective.

Breakthrough Role and Continued Success

Catherine's real fame came with her role as Amanda Carrington in Aaron Spelling's famous series "Dynasty". Amanda is the daughter of wealthy industrialist Blake Carrington (John Forsythe) and his ex-wife Alexis (Joan Collins). After her role in "Dynasty," Catherine received numerous offers. She played the role of Princess Eliza in the TV movie "Roman Holiday" (a role once portrayed by Audrey Hepburn), starred in two Australian miniseries "Bonnie" and "The Scorpion Ring," and then spent a year in Mexico filming 22 episodes of the series "Heat in Acapulco" as Ashley Hunter-Coddington.

Catherine's most recent work on television is the film "Miracles from Heaven". She has appeared in more than thirty films and TV series, including "The Lair of the White Worm," "The Flying Dutchman," "In Search of King Arthur," "Code Omega," and many others.
