Catherine Raney-Norman, an accomplished American speed skater, was born on June 20, 1980, in Wisconsin, USA. Her skating journey began in Salt Lake City, where she participated in her first competition at the age of 17.
Olympic Achievements
Raney-Norman has represented the United States at numerous Olympic Games. In Turin 2006, she made history by finishing fifth in the team pursuit, achieving her best Olympic result. In Vancouver 2010, she placed 11th in the 3000m, 17th in the 1500m, and fourth in the team pursuit.
Domestic Success
Within the United States, Raney-Norman has been a dominant force in speed skating. She holds the American records for the 3000m and 5000m distances. Additionally, she has won the US All-Around Championships seven times, most recently in 2008.
Training and Partnerships
Raney-Norman trained at the Olympic Oval in Canada until 2006, after which she relocated to Salt Lake City due to restrictions on foreign athletes training in Canada.
