Early Life and Sporting CareerCedric Soares, a talented Portuguese defender, was born in Germany to Portuguese parents who returned to their homeland when Cedric was two. At the tender age of eight in 1999, he joined the youth ranks of Sporting CP.
Cedric made his senior debut for Sporting in 2011 and quickly established himself as a regular starter. In the 2011/12 season, he was loaned to Académica, where he made a significant impact in their triumphant Portuguese Cup campaign.
Upon his return to Lisbon, Cedric continued to impress under various managers. However, his career took a dramatic turn in the 2014/15 Portuguese Cup final, where he was controversially sent off in the 14th minute. Despite the setback, Sporting emerged victorious.
Transfer to Southampton and International Success
In 2015, Cedric joined English Premier League club Southampton on a four-year contract. He made his debut in the Europa League qualifiers and quickly became a mainstay in the team.
Cedric's international career has been equally illustrious. He has represented Portugal at multiple youth levels and made his senior debut in 2014. He was a key member of the Portuguese squad that triumphed at the 2016 European Championship in France, claiming the title of European champion.
