Early Life and Career
Klue Tse was born on July 29, 1945, in Agbelouvé, Togo. Before entering politics, he worked as a civil servant in Togo's Ministry of Planning from 1977 to 1995.
Political Appointment and Premiership
On November 29, 1995, President Gnassingbé Eyadéma appointed Klue Tse as Minister of Planning and Territorial Development in the government led by Prime Minister Edem Kodjo. Following by-elections in 1996, Eyadéma's Rassemblement du Peuple Togolais (RPT) party secured a parliamentary majority, allowing it to form a new government. Eyadéma appointed Klue Tse as Prime Minister on August 20, 1996.
Government Formation and Opposition
Klue Tse formed his first government on September 1, 1996. However, the opposition refused to participate in the government. Klue Tse expressed regret on television, stating that the opposition's leaders had not accepted President Eyadéma's "sincere and fraternal hand." Despite the lack of opposition support, Klue Tse remained in office.
Parliamentary Elections and Resignation
In the March 1999 parliamentary elections, Klue Tse was elected to the National Assembly. Following the elections, he and his government resigned on April 17, 1999. Eyadéma accepted their resignations, and Klue Tse's government served as caretakers until a new government was formed.
Later Political Career
Klue Tse was re-elected to the National Assembly in the October 2002 parliamentary elections. In the October 2007 parliamentary elections, he was second on the RPT's list in the Zio prefecture but lost his seat to the opposition Union des Forces de Changement (UFC).
