Thai tennis player Chan Kai-Chen has achieved a career-high WTA singles ranking of No. 82, which she reached on July 5, 2010. She also reached a career-high ranking of No. 69 in doubles on June 13, 2010.

Born in 1991, Kai-Chen has two older brothers, Yao Lun and Yao Chung, who are also active tennis players. She began playing tennis at a local court alongside her brothers in the suburbs of Taipei. However, she now trains periodically in Delray Beach, Florida, USA. If not for her tennis career, Kai-Chen has expressed interest in pursuing architecture.

As a young player, Kai-Chen drew inspiration from Justine Henin and Roger Federer. Her ultimate goal is to break into the WTA's top 10.

Career Highlights

Chan Kai-Chen holds three titles in doubles on the WTA Tour. She and Lilia Osterloh won the 2010 Osaka Open. In 2012, she partnered with Chuang Chia-jung to win the Kuala Lumpur Open and with Shuko Aoyama to win the Washington Open.

Kai-Chen has regularly competed in Grand Slam tournaments in both singles and doubles. Her best singles performance was reaching the second round at the 2012 Australian Open, where she was defeated by Jelena Jankovic.
