Yoann Touzghar: Tunisian Striker with a Global Career
Early Life and Club CareerYoann Touzghar, a dual citizen of France and Tunisia, began his football journey at the Bastia academy. In 2001, he made his senior debut and became a regular starter in 2002. He played seven seasons for Bastia, including four in Ligue 1 and three in Ligue 2.
In July 2008, he joined Nice for a fee of €750,000. While he struggled to establish himself in the first team during his first season, he made his debut against Le Havre and scored his first goal for Nice against Saint-Étienne in 2009.
Return to Ligue 2 and International Debut
In August 2011, Touzghar moved to Lens, where he made a significant impact.
As a French citizen, Touzghar represented France at the U15, U17, U18, and U21 levels. He was also part of the victorious French U20 team at the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship in Trinidad and Tobago.
Tunisian National Team Career
Opting for Tunisian citizenship in 2005, Touzghar made his debut for the Carthage Eagles against Malawi on March 26, 2005. He participated in the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2006 and 2008 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
World Cup Inclusion and Later Career
Initially overlooked for Tunisia's 2006 World Cup squad, Touzghar was called up after an injury to Jaouhar Mnari. He made a brief substitute appearance in the match against Ukraine. Touzghar continued to play for the Tunisian national team and later had a brief stint with Troyes in Ligue 1.
