Early Career and NHL Draft

Chára's NHL journey began at the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, where he was selected 56th overall by the New York Islanders. He spent four seasons with the Islanders before being traded to the Ottawa Senators in 2001.

Boston Bruins and Norris Trophy

As an unrestricted free agent in 2006, Chára signed with the Boston Bruins. He became a cornerstone of their defense, captaining the team to their 2011 Stanley Cup victory and winning the prestigious James Norris Trophy in 2009 as the NHL's top defenseman.

Career Highlights and Milestones

On January 17, 2011, Chára scored his first career hat-trick against the Carolina Hurricanes. He also set an NHL record for hardest shot in the 2012 NHL All-Star SuperSkills Competition, sending the puck flying at 108.8 miles per hour. In 2012, he played his 1,000th NHL game.
