Early Life and Education
Born in the Russian Empire, Ayn Rand emigrated with her family to the United States in 1909. She pursued her education at Harvard University, graduating in 1922.
Journalistic Career
Rand began her journalistic career at The American Mercury in 1925, where she served as an employee until 1934. She subsequently became the magazine's publisher from 1934 to 1935. Continuing her work in the publishing industry, she held the position of publisher at American Spectacor from September 1935 to August 1936.
Literary Accomplishments
Throughout her career, Rand published over 20 books spanning prose, poetry, and nonfiction. Her most notable works include "The Fountainhead" (1943) and "Atlas Shrugged" (1957), which became influential philosophical novels.
Presidency of the Poets' Guild
In recognition of her literary contributions, Rand was elected president of the Poets' Guild in 1969, a position she held until her death in 1982.
