Biography of Charles Hamelin
Charles Hamelin was born in 1984 in Lévis, Quebec, Canada. He is a Canadian speed skater who has achieved great success in short track speed skating.

Early Career
Hamelin made his debut at the Junior World Championships in 2002, finishing fourth in the 500m race and helping the team win a silver medal in the relay. In the following championships in 2003, he achieved even better results, coming second in the 500m and 1500m races, fourth in the 1000m, and fifth in the super 15000m. He also won a bronze medal in the 5000m relay with the Canadian team, placing him fourth overall in the Junior World Championships.

Breakthrough Season
The 2004-2005 season was a breakthrough for Hamelin. He participated in all the World Cup competitions for the first time and achieved impressive results. He finished third overall in the 500m, fourth in the 1000m, and fifth in the 1500m, placing him fifth overall for the season. He also won first place in the relay event with his team.

Olympic Success
At the 2006 Winter Olympics, Hamelin finished fourth in the 1500m race and won a silver medal in the 5000m relay with the Canadian men's team. In the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, he won gold medals in the 500m race and the 5000m relay.

World Championship Achievements
Hamelin has also had great success in World Championships. He won gold on the 3000m track in 2006, silver in the 500m race in 2005, and became the World Champion in the 500m race in 2007. He also won silver in 2008 and once again became the leader of the World Championships in 2009 in the 500m race.

Personal Life
Hamelin comes from a family passionate about short track speed skating. His brother, François, is a member of the Olympic and national short track team. Hamelin is in a relationship and lives with his teammate, Marianne St-Gelais, who is a world junior champion in the 500m race. Their father, Yves, is the current director of the national short track team.
Hamelin hopes to obtain a degree in kinesiology alongside his successful career in short track speed skating.
