Charles George Patrick Shaughnessy was born on February 9, 1955. He is a British and American television, theater, and film actor. Charles grew up surrounded by the world of cinema, as his father was a screenwriter who wrote the script for the best TV series of 1971, "Upstairs, Downstairs", and his mother was also an actress. He received an excellent legal education at Cambridge University. By chance, Charles found himself in the theater, joining a drama group in Cambridge. He enjoyed it so much that after finishing Cambridge, Charles enrolled at the London Drama School.
