Cheryl James is an American rapper and DJ, and one of the founders of the group "Salt-N-Pepa." She was born on March 8, 1964, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Cheryl began seriously pursuing music in the 1980s. In 1984, together with her friend Sandy Denton, she formed the group "Salt-N-Pepa." At that time, Cheryl and Sandy were working in the same supermarket. It was in that supermarket that they found their first mentor and producer, Hurby Azor, who gave the girls their first hit song.
Rise to Success
Cheryl was always a beautiful and feisty African-American woman, which made her the perfect fit as the "cool" rapper. The first step towards success was a contract with the record label "Pop Art Records."
