Biography of Chris Carmack
Born on December 22, 1980, in Washington, D.C., James Christopher "Chris" Carmack is an American actor and former model. He grew up in Derwood, Maryland, with a brother and sister. In his younger years, he was passionate about various sports such as baseball, basketball, football, and wrestling.
Early Career
Carmack gained recognition on the children's modeling show "Seneca Creek Day Camp," where he performed the song "Rocko the Lazy Moth" with others. However, his interests shifted during high school when he developed a fascination with theater. He enthusiastically worked on school stage productions and participated in numerous theater festivals.
After completing high school, Carmack enrolled at New York University to pursue a degree in Fine Arts at the Tisch School. Despite receiving a modeling job offer, he decided to leave university to focus on his modeling career. His appearance perfectly matched the type that Bruce Weber had been searching for Abercrombie & Fitch.
Modeling Career
Carmack collaborated with several brands and fashion catalogs, including "Lord and Taylor," "Macy's," "Target," "Who.A.U," "Elle France," "Nautica," "Guess?," and "Cosmogirl." After two years in New York, Carmack decided to pursue his true passion for acting and moved to Los Angeles.
Acting Career
He auditioned for the role of Luke in the first season of the television series "The O.C." but declined the offer due to uncertainty about the character's future beyond the first season. In 2005, Carmack returned to modeling for the exclusive and limited label "Ezra Fitch," distributed by Abercrombie & Fitch.
In 2006, he appeared in the comedy film "Lovewrecked" alongside Amanda Bynes and Jonathan Bennett. Carmack then pursued theater opportunities in New York and London. From March to May 2006, he performed in experimental productions at the Laura Pels Theatre. His involvement in Scott Elliot's play "Entertaining Mr. Sloane" earned a Tony Award nomination.
The same year, Carmack made his London stage debut in the revival of Tennessee Williams' play "Summer and Smoke," which had not been performed in London for 55 years. He also appeared in an episode of "Desperate Housewives" as Tim, Susan Mayer's cousin.
Carmack's most recent significant work is his role in the film "Butterfly Effect: Revelation" (2009).
