Early Life and Career

Christopher James "Chris" Evans was born on April 1, 1966, in Warrington, England. After attending St. Margaret's Church of England Primary School and Orford Primary School, he passed the "11 Plus" program at Boteler Grammar School. Evans's father passed away from cancer in 1979, prompting him to work at a newspaper kiosk and snack bar while attending Padgate High School.

In 1983, Evans secured a job at Piccadilly Radio in Manchester. However, he also worked part-time at a newspaper kiosk and occasionally DJed at local clubs. He transitioned to full-time employment at Piccadilly Radio in 1984, producing the "Night Train" program from 1987 to 1989.

Television Career

Evans's television career began in 1991 with the satellite channel BSB's morning show "Power Up." In 1992, he joined Channel 4 to host two shows, "Round at Chris" (until 1993) and "The Big Breakfast." He left "The Big Breakfast" in 1994 to start his own production company, Ginger Productions, which created the Channel 4 show "Don't Forget Your Toothbrush" (1994-1995).

Radio Career

Evans joined BBC Radio 1 in 1995 to host its "Breakfast Show." From 1996 to 1999, he presented the Channel 4 chat show "TFI Friday." In 1997, he moved to Virgin Radio to host the weekday morning program, which he did until 2001. From 2005 to 2010, Evans hosted a series of shows on BBC Radio 2, including the "Drivetime Show" (2006-2009) and the breakfast show (2010-present).

Other Ventures

In 2000, Evans sold his company, Ginger Media Group, for £225 million, earning £35.5 million and making him the highest-paid presenter in Britain. In 2015, he took over as presenter of the popular BBC motoring show "Top Gear."

Personal Life

Evans has been married three times and has two sons. He was married to Alison Ward from 1986 to 1989 and to Carol McGiffin from 1991 to 1994. In 2007, he married Natasha Shishmanian, with whom he has two sons. His daughter Jade, from his marriage to Alison Ward, gave birth to Evans's first grandson in 2015.
