Christian Ludwig Brehm, the father of the renowned German ornithologist Alfred Edmund Brehm, was born on January 24, 1787, in Schönau, Germany. After studying theology from 1807 to 1809, he became a pastor in Rentendorf near Neustadt an der Orla in 1813.
