Christopher Samba is a Congolese footballer who currently plays as a defender for the Russian club "Anzhi" (Makhachkala).
Joining Anzhi
On February 24, 2012, on the last day of the transfer window in the Russian Premier League, Samba became a player of the Makhachkala-based club "Anzhi". He wears the number 22 jersey for Anzhi, and his contract is signed for 3.5 years with the possibility of extension for an additional year.
Club Debut and First Goal
Samba made his debut for Anzhi on March 5, 2012, in a match against "Dynamo" Moscow (1-0) during the 33rd round of the Russian Football Championship. He scored his first goal for the Makhachkala club on May 6, 2012, in a match against "Rubin" Kazan during the 43rd round, which resulted in a confident victory for Anzhi with a score of 3-1.
International Career
Despite being born in France, Christopher Samba played his entire international career as part of the Republic of Congo national team. He did not win any awards with his national team. From 2007 to 2008, he served as the team captain. On August 29, 2008, he announced the end of his international career. However, in 2012, he was called up to the Congo national team for the World Cup qualifiers due to his performances with Anzhi.
