Biography of CJ de Mooi
CJ de Mooi, a European TV star and participant of TV quizzes, is best known as one of the members of the BBC show 'Eggheads'. He is a dedicated teetotaler and vegetarian. De Mooi added the surname 'de Mooi' to his name during his time as a model; in Dutch, this surname roughly translates to 'handsome'.

De Mooi received his education at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology, where he studied English language and performing arts. After college, he ventured into the modeling business and worked as a model in Germany for 4.5 years.

In 2000, de Mooi appeared on several game shows, most notably 'The Weakest Link'. His angry response when he was eliminated in a round of the show gained attention and was even featured on the program's website. This response ultimately led to his invitation to a special edition of the show for 'losers', which he won. De Mooi also had the opportunity to participate in other well-known TV shows such as 'Fifteen to One', 'Countdown', 'Beat the Nation', '100%', and 'No Win, No Fee'.

De Mooi not only participated as a contestant in quizzes but also worked as a presenter. In March 2007, he hosted a late-night show at an LGBT community event, and in June 2010, he had the opportunity to host a quiz at the British Humanist Association Conference.
In 2010, during a snooker championship, CJ de Mooi challenged six former professional players. However, their competition did not involve playing snooker but rather showcasing their knowledge of specific topics related to the sport. De Mooi claimed to know more about snooker than each of his opponents knew about their chosen general topic. Overall, de Mooi performed quite successfully, with only one opponent, John Parrott, managing to defeat him on his own turf.
Based on his extensive experience in quiz shows, de Mooi even wrote a book titled 'How to Win TV Quiz Shows'. However, his intellectual pursuits were not limited to quizzes. From 1990 to 2009, he also played chess professionally and was even elected as the President of the English Chess Federation in 2010.
In December 2011, de Mooi announced his departure from 'Eggheads' to focus on developing his acting career. He appeared on the show until August 2012 and was later replaced by Dave Rainford.
