Ukrainian Comedy Duo: The Rabbits

The Rabbits, a beloved Ukrainian comedy duo, has entertained audiences for decades with their hilarious performances. The duo, composed of Volodymyr Danylets and Volodymyr Moiseenko, has achieved the prestigious title of People's Artists of Ukraine.

Origins and Influences

The Rabbits were formed in 1987 under the guidance of director Yevhen Perebyinos. Their name stems from the 1986 sketch "Rabbit Is Not Only Valuable Fur" by Minsk-based author Volodymyr Pertsev, which became their signature piece. Pertsev later became the primary writer for the duo. Other notable writers who have contributed to their material include Natalia Korosteleva, Maryan Belenky, and Lilia Motsar.

Notable Performances and Collaborations

Among their most iconic performances is the sketch "Victim of Advertising," a parody of the renowned Tide detergent commercial featuring Volodymyr Tyshko. The Rabbits have also collaborated with renowned actors such as Oleksandr Pankratov-Cherny and Boryslav Brondyukov in the satirical newsreel "Fitil."

Television Presence and Own Shows

In 2009, The Rabbits joined the comedy show "Funnier Than the Rabbits," which aired on STS and later DTV channels. Since October 2020, Danylets and Moiseenko have hosted their own program, "15 Minutes About Painful Issues," on the Ukrainian television channel 112 Ukraine.

Current Status

The Rabbits continue to entertain audiences with their signature blend of humor, satire, and social commentary. Their talent has brought them widespread recognition and cemented their place as one of the most beloved comedy duos in Ukrainian entertainment history.
