Biography of Tim Russert
Timothy John Russert was born on May 7, 1950, in Buffalo, New York, USA. He was an American journalist and television host for NBC. His parents were American-Irish Catholics. His mother, Elizabeth, was a housewife, and his father, Timothy Joseph "Big Russ" Russert, held various professions, ranging from a healthcare worker to a sanitation worker.

Education and Early Career
Russert graduated from Canisius High School in Buffalo and obtained a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Buffalo School of Law in 1972. After completing his studies, he worked in the law office of New York Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan for some time. In 1983, Russert became an attorney for New York Governor Mario Cuomo. However, in 1988, he left his legal practice after being invited to work in television, specifically for NBC News. Within a year, he became the Washington bureau chief for the network.
Career at NBC
In 1991, Russert created his own show called "Meet the Press," which later became known as "Meet the Press with Tim Russert." He introduced a new element to television by using simple digital calculations to predict outcomes such as presidential or congressional elections on a whiteboard with a black marker. He also coined the famous terms "Red States" and "Blue States" to indicate the political leanings of each state. Russert was known for his sharp commentary during the CIA scandal involving Lewis Libby and the Iraq War.
Author and Awards
Russert authored two best-selling books. His first was an autobiography titled "Big Russ and Me," published in 2004. The second book, "Wisdom of Our Fathers: Lessons and Letters from Daughters and Sons," was released in 2005. He received numerous prestigious awards in journalism, including an Emmy Award for Best Television Journalist in 2005.
Personal Life and Tragic Death
Russert was married to Vanity Fair correspondent Maureen Orth. They met in 1976 but only got married in 1983. They had a son named Luke. On June 13, 2008, while preparing for his show, Tim Russert suffered a heart attack. He was immediately hospitalized, but the doctors were unable to save him.
