Early Life and Career Choice

Clive James Standen was born on July 22, 1981, in Hollywood, Northern Ireland, to a military family. After the family relocated to Leicestershire, England, Clive pursued his education at King Edward VII School and Melton College, where he discovered his passion for acting. However, his true calling lay in performing stunts, and he joined Nottingham's professional stunt troupe at the age of 12.

At 15, Clive Standen received a life-changing offer to join the National Youth Theatre. With the troupe, he toured the country, earning critical acclaim. His success led to a scholarship at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Breakthrough Roles

Upon graduating, Standen found immediate success on television. He secured a role in the popular medical drama "Doctors" in 2000, followed by a recurring part in "Waking the Dead" from 2001 to 2011. His versatility was showcased in the Emmy-winning television film "Ten Days to D-Day" (2004) and the literary adaptation "Tom Brown's Schooldays" (2005).

His most iconic role came as Rolland in the historical drama "Vikings," which he has starred in since 2013.

Contemporary Thrillers

Beyond period pieces, Standen has also starred in contemporary thrillers. In 2015, he appeared in the disaster film "Everest." In 2017, he landed the lead role of Brian Mills in "Taken," a television series adaptation of the popular film franchise.
