Although he initially struggled with auditions, Hauser landed his first film role in 1992 in Robert Mandel's "School Ties," alongside several other aspiring actors. Hauser's parents, Wingz Hauser and a founder of the film company "Warner Sisters," had a long lineage of involvement in the movie business, including his screenwriter grandfather, Dwight Hauser, and other relatives. Hauser's parents divorced when he was two years old, but his father remained involved in his life and nurtured his talents.

In his later years of school, Hauser was more interested in sports than the family business. However, at the insistence of a friend, he joined an acting class and unexpectedly found himself in his first play, "Dark of the Moon," where he landed the lead role. This experience further fueled his passion for the stage and applause.

After dropping out of school, Hauser started his acting career with the support of his parents. Although he faced initial setbacks, he received his breakthrough role in the 1992 film "School Ties." In the following year, he appeared in Michael Switzer's thriller "A Matter of Justice" and Richard Linklater's comedy "Dazed and Confused." These minor roles marked the beginning of his successful career.

In 1994, Hauser appeared in three films, one of which was a role in the popular television series "ER." As his career progressed, he gained recognition and had the opportunity to work with esteemed actors such as Matt Damon in "Good Will Hunting" (1997) and Woody Harrelson in Stephen Frears' "The Hi-Lo Country" (2000).

Hauser's notable roles include playing a gang leader in the action film "2 Fast 2 Furious" (2003) directed by John Singleton, and starring alongside Bruce Willis in Antoine Fuqua's action film "Tears of the Sun." He also took leading roles in Paul Abascal's "Paparazzi" (2004) and Bruce Hunt's "The Cave" (2005). During the filming of "The Cave," Hauser had to overcome challenges as the movie involved numerous underwater scenes, showcasing his dedication and professionalism.

From 2005 to 2009, Hauser played significant roles in nearly a dozen films, including Peyton Reed's comedy "The Break-Up" and Tyler Perry's drama "The Family That Preys." Outside of his acting career, Hauser is married to actress Cynthia Daniel, and they have two sons together.
