Biography of Constance Marie
Constance Marie Lopez, an American actress, was born on September 9, 1965, in Los Angeles, California. She is a third-generation Mexican-American, with her family having immigrated to America. As a teenager, Constance developed a passion for dance. At the age of nineteen, she was included in the cast of the musical "Cosmopolis" by renowned composer Ryuichi Sakamoto in Japan. After returning to Los Angeles, Constance had a chance to make a significant career move by joining the dance troupe of pop icon David Bowie. In 1988, she began working as a dancer in David Bowie's "Glass Spider" tour. After the tour ended, Constance received an invitation to play one of the dancers in the film "Salsa". Following this, the film's choreographer introduced her to Steve Tisch, who offered her first acting role in her career. This was the role of Penny Rivera in the CBS television series "Dirty Dancing". In 1989, Constance portrayed Nikki Alvarez in the popular NBC soap opera "Santa Barbara". After that, she appeared in several other television series such as "Reasonable Doubts", "Cobra", "Blood Brothers", "Span City", "Morning Edition", "The Sentinel", "Ally McBeal", and several others. It is worth noting that in many of her roles, Constance had such small parts that were not even listed in the credits. Constance Marie played her most notable on-screen character in the biographical drama film "Selena" directed by Gregory Nava in 1997. The film tells the story of Latin American singer Selena Quintanilla Perez (portrayed by Jennifer Lopez), who tragically died at the age of 23. Constance played the role of Marcela Quintanilla, Selena's mother. The makeup artists did a great job transforming Marie into an older woman, even though she was the same age as Jennifer Lopez. Constance also worked with director Gregory Nava in the drama film "My Family", which tells the story of a Mexican family living in California both before and after the state became part of the United States. Some other films she has appeared in include the science fiction film "12:01" Midnight", the action film "Law & Order", and the romantic comedy "Tortilla Soup". Among her recent works, Constance can be recognized for her role as Angie Lopez in the comedy series "George Lopez" and as Nina Gonzalez in the family series "American Family". In 2007, Constance Marie launched her own clothing line called "The Constance Marie Collection", which allows women to feel confident, stylish, and comfortable. The clothing is available in a wide range of sizes and caters to women of all body types. Since 1995, Constance Marie has been in a relationship with Kent Katich. In February 2009, they welcomed their daughter, Luna Marie.
