Early Life and Ajax Debut

Cor Gelhuizen, a renowned Dutch footballer, emerged from the youth ranks of Ajax Amsterdam in 1942. After honing his skills for a decade, he made his senior team debut on November 28, 1954, in a league match against VVV-Venlo.

Versatile Player

Initially excelling as a defender, Gelhuizen's versatility shone when he was shifted to midfield following the departure of Hans Boskamp. He seamlessly adapted to the left midfield role in the 1955/1956 season, before returning to his defensive duties the following year.

Missed Season and Career End

An illness kept him off the pitch during the 1958/1959 season. In 1960, at the age of 28, he retired from professional football. Despite accumulating 127 appearances for Ajax, he never found the back of the net.

Championship Glory

Gelhuizen's contributions to Ajax were not limited to his performances on the field. He was an integral part of the team that clinched the Dutch league championship in 1957.
