Biography of Corey Hart

Corey Mitchell Hart, a Canadian pop-rock singer, was born on May 31, 1962, in Montreal, Quebec, into a large family. Growing up, Corey spent his childhood traveling as his father was a prominent real estate agent, leading the family to frequently move to Mexico and Spain before settling in Florida. When Corey was only ten years old, his parents divorced, and he remained with his mother. At the age of fifteen, Corey realized his dream of becoming a singer after participating in the recording of an album by Tom Jones.

In 1983, Hart recorded his first demo songs under Aquarius Records and then traveled to England, where he spent three months working with studio musicians Phil Chapman and John Astley. He also collaborated with Eric Clapton on the track "Jenny Fey." In 1984, he released his debut album, "First Offense," which he recorded in England. The album's first singles, "Sunglasses At Night" and "It Ain't Enough," made it into the top twenty of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

For a long time, Hart had stage fright, and when his manager insisted on him performing at the Culture Club club to promote his album, many feared that critics would tear him apart. While the critics did criticize him, it had no effect on the album's sales or Hart's future career. Sometimes, critics make mistakes. Hart later joined tours with April Wine, Thomas Dolby, Hall & Oates, and Rick Springfield, touring the world with them, including visits to Australia and Japan for promotional tours.

In 1985, Hart's album "Boy In The Box" was released, catapulting him to global fame. In Canada alone, over a million copies were sold, with only Bryan Adams being able to rival him at the time. The album's first single, "Never Surrender," won a Juno Award for "Single of the Year," and Hart was once again nominated for a Grammy. In the same year, he performed at the charity concert "Tears Are Not Enough," which was organized to help starving people in Ethiopia.

In 1986, Hart released the album "Fields Of Fire," which seemed overshadowed by the success of "Boy In The Box." After a tour, he decided to take a break and stopped performing live. It wasn't until 1987 that he made his first television appearance on a CBS show. However, the hiatus played a more negative role in Hart's career than positive. In 1988, the rather lackluster album "Young Man Running" was released, putting his career in jeopardy. Hart was no longer invited for interviews or tours, and his manager decided to leave after several financial failures.

In 1990, the album "BANg!" was released, which commercially performed even worse than "Young Man Running." Eventually, representatives from Aquarius Records decided to terminate their contract with Hart. After several attempts to make a comeback, Corey Hart disappeared from the music scene altogether. In 1994, he married his childhood friend and country singer, Julie Masse. As of today, Julie and Corey have three children.
