Biography of Cornel Hrisca-Munn
Cornel Hrisca-Munn is an English drummer who was born without arms. He became an internet sensation after a popular video of him covering the song "Everlong" by the band Foo Fighters went viral. Using special attachments, he attaches drumsticks to his shoulders and when he sits behind a drum kit, he is just as skilled as other professional drummers.
Early Life
Cornel Hrisca-Munn was born in 1991 in northern Romania. His parents, upon learning that he was born without arms, abandoned him and chose to leave him at the hospital. The doctors believed that he would only survive for a few days and did not issue a birth certificate. However, Cornel not only survived but grew up as a cheerful and normal child.
At the age of 9 months, he was seen for the first time by Doreen Munn, who immediately knew she had to adopt him and bring him to the United Kingdom. It took nearly a year of bureaucratic complications, during which the adoptive family met Cornel's biological parents and obtained permission for his relocation. In the UK, experienced doctors took care of his medical treatment, providing him with the procedures he did not receive in his native country.
Overcoming Challenges
While in England, doctors carefully studied Cornel's medical history and decided to amputate his right leg. Despite all the hardships, Cornel remained a cheerful boy and never felt isolated from his peers. He used prosthetics on his hands for a while but eventually gave them up, saying they were too heavy and cumbersome. In school, he excelled academically and stood out even more for his desire to help others.
In 1998, he started his first charitable campaign. Riding his bicycle through the park, he raised over £8,500 for another Romanian boy suffering from leukemia. While continuing his studies, Cornel continued his philanthropic activities and was awarded the "Pride of Britain Child of Courage Award". Each time he found himself in the spotlight, he urged the audience not to feel pity for him - he was just like them. Instead, he encouraged them to feel pity for less fortunate children.
In 2005, he received the prestigious "Princess Diana Memorial Award" for inspiring good deeds. Cornel gained worldwide fame when he recorded a cover of the song "Everlong". The video quickly gained thousands of views, and one comment on the video read, "For those who have given up on doing something because it's 'too hard', I must say that it's not an excuse".
Current Endeavors
Today, Cornel Hrisca-Munn is a student at the University of Oxford, where he is studying law. Despite his physical challenges, he continues to inspire others with his determination and talent.
