Alexandru Lazăr is a Romanian professional footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for Liga I club Voluntari.
Early Career
Lazăr began his football career with Rapid București in 2006, where he quickly established himself as a promising young player.
March 2009 Incident
In the 2009 match between Rapid București and Oţelul Galaţi, Lazăr became embroiled in a controversial incident. After being awarded a penalty against him for a perceived foul, Lazăr approached the referee and convinced him that the decision was incorrect. The referee then ordered a fair play drop ball, which Lazăr kicked out of bounds. Despite the controversy, Rapid București remained in control of the match, winning 2-0.
Subsequent Career
Following his stint with Rapid București, Lazăr has gone on to play for several other clubs, including Politehnica Iaşi, FC Vaslui, and ASA Târgu Mureș. In 2018, he joined Voluntari, where he has been a regular contributor in midfield.
