Biography of Craig Gordon

Craig Gordon is a Scottish footballer who is widely known for his skills as a goalkeeper. He began his career at the club Hearts and attended school from 1994 to 1999. On October 6, 2002, he made his debut for Hearts in a match against Livingston, which ended in a 1-1 draw. In 2004, he was included in the list of the best young players in the Scottish championship. In April 2006, at the age of 22, Gordon was named the best player in Scotland, becoming the first player from Hearts to receive this award.

Club Career

Throughout the majority of the 2006/2007 season, there were rumors circulating that Gordon could transfer to Aston Villa, Arsenal, or Manchester United. However, on August 7, 2007, he signed a 5-year contract with English club Sunderland. His contract was bought for €13,500,000. He made his Premier League debut in a match against Tottenham, which Sunderland won 1-0.

International Career

Gordon made his debut for the Scottish national team on May 30, 2004, in a match against Trinidad and Tobago. Allan Preston, the national team's manager at the time, saw him as the team's main goalkeeper and stated that Gordon was one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. After a draw with Italy (1-1), the renowned Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon claimed that Gordon had the potential to become one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
