Early Life and Musical Roots

Creed Bratton, born as William Charles Schneider on February 8, 1943, in Los Angeles, grew up in Coarsegold, California, near Yosemite National Park. With a musical lineage that included grandparents and parents, young Creed developed a passion for music early on. At age 13, he received his first guitar, and by college, he had become a professional guitarist.

The Birth of Creed Bratton

After embarking on a lengthy journey that took him through Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, Bratton decided to pursue a career as a musician. It was during this time that he adopted the stage name Creed Bratton, which he is known by today.

The Grass Roots

In 1965, Bratton assembled a band and named it The Grass Roots. After showcasing their talents at music festivals, they caught the attention of songwriters P.F. Sloan and Steve Barri. The Grass Roots' subsequent demo tapes impressed the producers, leading to the band's breakthrough success with the hit song "Let's Live for Today" in 1967.

Solo Career and Later Music

Following years with The Grass Roots, Bratton embarked on a solo career. In 2001 and 2002, he released three albums featuring recordings from the 1960s. In 2008, he released a new album of original material, produced by John Tiven. Collaboration with Dave Way in 2009 resulted in another album in the works.

Acting Career

In 1969, Bratton made his film debut. He has since appeared in films such as "Mask" and "Heart Like a Wheel." His most notable role, which earned him widespread recognition and an acting award, came in the hit comedy series "The Office." In 2008, he starred in the award-winning short film "Just One of the Gynos." Bratton continues to act, with a recent appearance in the film "Labor Pains."
