Biography of Curtis Tomasevich

Curtis Tomasevich, an American bobsledder, began his sports career in American football before transitioning to bobsledding in 2004. He has achieved great success in his bobsledding career, winning a total of 9 medals at the FIBT World Championships, 2 Olympic medals, and numerous other awards in smaller championships.

Early Life and Education

Curtis Tomasevich was born in Shelby, Nebraska. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Astronomy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. It was during his time at the university that Tomasevich developed a passion for football and became a member of the local team, the 'University of Nebraska Cornhuskers', from 2000 to 2003. He achieved significant success during this period and was included in the 'Academic All Big 12' in 2002.

Bobsledding Career

In 2004, Tomasevich turned his focus to bobsledding. Since then, he has won a total of nine medals at the FIBT World Championships. In 2007, he won silver in the mixed team competition, and in 2008, he won bronze in the same discipline. The 2009 World Championships proved to be incredibly fruitful for Tomasevich, as he won bronze in the two-man bobsled race and the mixed team competition, as well as gold in the four-man bobsled race. In 2012, he won his second gold medal at the World Championships in the four-man bobsled race. In 2011, he won bronze in the four-man race at the championship in Königsee, Germany. Tomasevich continued his success at the 2013 World Championships, winning bronze in the four-man race and gold in the mixed team competition.

Olympic Success

Tomasevich first competed in the Winter Olympics in 2006, where his team finished in sixth place in the four-man bobsled race. Four years later, at the Vancouver Olympics, he won gold in the four-man bobsled race and finished sixth in the two-man race. This Olympic gold medal became the crowning achievement in Tomasevich's collection of awards. However, he did not stop there. At the Sochi Olympics, he won his second Olympic medal, this time bronze.

Other Achievements

During the 2006-2007 season, Tomasevich served as a backup player on Steven Holcomb's team. In 2008, he won gold at the Cesana Championships in Italy. He has also won the U.S. National Push Championships at least three times.

Despite his already impressive achievements, Curtis Tomasevich continues to strive for success in his bobsledding career and is determined to add more medals to his collection in the future.
