Biography of Dallas Green

Dallas Green was born on September 29, 1980, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. His parents named him after the legendary American baseball player, pitcher George Dallas Green. Initially, his mother wanted to name him Graham-Todd Green, but his father, a passionate Philadelphia Phillies fan, bet on their victory in the World Series in October 1980. When the team won, the newborn son became Dallas.

Early Musical Career

From a young age, Dallas began singing and playing the guitar. At the age of eight, he developed a passion for skateboarding and became a fan of former heavyweight wrestler Scott Hall, also known as Razor Ramon. One of his favorite TV shows was "Holmes on Homes," hosted by contractor Mike Holmes.

City and Colour

In 2000, Dallas recorded his first demo, "Simple Songs," which marked the beginning of his musical career under the name "City and Colour." The demo included versions of songs that later appeared on a full-length album, as well as several unreleased demo versions. Although this release was never made available to the public, it can still be found on the internet in average quality.

Alexisonfire

Dallas Green gained recognition as the vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter for the post-hardcore rock band "Alexisonfire." The band released four albums, "Alexisonfire," "Watch Out!," "Crisis," and "Old Crows / Young Cardinals," as well as several EPs. Dallas' emotional and intense vocals can be heard in most of the band's songs.

Collaborations

Aside from his solo and band projects, Dallas has collaborated with other musicians. He contributed vocals to the song "The Grace" by "Neverending White Lights" and recorded tracks with "Every Time I Die" and "Fucked Up."

Solo Success

Under the name "City and Colour," Dallas released the album "Sometimes," which achieved gold status. The music video for the first single, "Save Your Scissors," was filmed in his hometown of St. Catharines. The second single, "Comin' Home," reached the top spot on the "MuchMoreMusic" chart. Dallas also released a live CD/DVD, titled "Live," featuring performances and a special appearance by Ron Sexsmith.

Recent Work

In 2008, Dallas released his second studio album, "Bring Me Your Love," and the music video for the lead single, "Waiting...," was released in January 2008. The album's second single, "Sleeping Sickness," was released in June of the same year, accompanied by a music video directed by Vincent Morisset. Dallas' latest album, "Little Hell," was expected to be released in June 2011 on Vagrant Records.
