Early Life and Education

Daniel Snyder was born in 1965 to a freelance correspondent who worked for United Press International and National Geographic. Growing up in Maryland, Snyder began his first job at the tender age of fourteen.

At seventeen, he faced his first entrepreneurial setback while assisting his father in selling tickets to a Washington Capitals hockey game. Inclement weather ruined the tickets, washing away their potential earnings in a torrential downpour.

Despite enrolling at the University of Maryland, Snyder left at age twenty to pursue his business endeavors. He leased airplanes to transport students on vacations to Fort Lauderdale and the Caribbean.

Collaborating with Mortimer Zuckerman

Daniel Snyder caught the attention of real estate magnate Mortimer Zuckerman. Impressed by his acumen, Zuckerman agreed to fund Snyder's student publication, Campus USA. Although the magazine only lasted three years, Zuckerman remained impressed by Snyder's drive and determination.

Snyder Communications Inc.

In 1988, Snyder and his sister founded Snyder Communications Inc. (SNC), a successful marketing firm. In 1996, the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange, making Snyder the youngest president at the time. Through acquisitions, Snyder expanded SNC until selling it to a French advertising firm in April 2000, in what was called the largest deal in advertising history.

NFL and the Washington Redskins

Football has been a lifelong passion for Daniel Snyder, who now owns the NFL's Washington Redskins. He acquired the team in 1999 for a then-record sum. Despite controversies surrounding the team name, Snyder remains dedicated to its success both on and off the field.
