Daniil Vorobyov is a Russian theater and film actor, stuntman, director, and screenwriter. He was born on August 30, 1981, in Kostroma, Russia, and from a young age, he dreamed of becoming an actor. At the age of 12, he expressed his passion for the arts by writing "I am an artist" in large letters on the wall of his house.
In 2008, Vorobyov's family experienced a tragedy when his close sister, Iona, who worked as a camerawoman, died during a film shoot. In memory of her, Daniil got a tattoo on his right arm depicting a necklace made of tambourines with a cross and heart.
After graduating from the acting department of the Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in Alexander Lenchikov's workshop, Vorobyov began his career in the theater. His theatrical works include roles in productions such as "Elizaveta Bam," based on the works of Daniil Kharms, as well as "Junk" and "Life is Good."
In the world of cinema, Daniil made his debut in 2006 in the films "Soldiers-10" and "Service 21, or Positive Thinking is Required." In 2009, Daniil began his creative journey in the world of directing and screenwriting. His directorial debut came with the short film "Prayer," created in collaboration with Yevgeny Tkachuk. This film was awarded 12 prizes at various festivals. In 2015, he presented his second short film project titled "Silent Water," starring Polina Sidikhina and Daria Ekamasova.
He also actively collaborates with Western filmmakers. In 2012, he played a role in the French project "Eastern Boys" directed by Robin Campillo. This film was nominated for a Cesar Award and won a prize at the Venice Film Festival in the "Horizons" category. In 2015, he played the lead role in the project "Out of Love," created in collaboration with France and the Netherlands. The film premiered at the Subtitle International Film Festival in 2016, where Daniil received the Angela Awards for his performance.
Furthermore, Daniil Vorobyov portrayed the character of Grigory Litvinov in the TV series "Riviera" produced by Sky Atlantic. Speaking about his character in this project, he emphasized the importance of portraying a realistic Russian character and considered it a great victory. In 2017, he played one of the main roles in the Russian crime series "Safety."
