Danika Heron, an Australian girl, became a victim of Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. While battling one disease, Danika Heron almost fell victim to two others. Over the next four days, Danika's symptoms worsened. Eventually, her mother, Carmen Heron, decided to take her to another hospital. However, even here, the doctors initially misdiagnosed her condition, suspecting stomatitis, rubella, and chickenpox. It was only after some time that doctors finally identified Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. These diseases required serious treatment, which is why Danika was immediately sent to a hospital in Sydney.
The Battle for Survival
The syndromes took a toll on Danika Heron's body. Her skin peeled off in large patches, and painful sores covered her mucous membranes. Despite the terrifying appearance of these manifestations, Danika's life depended on fighting the diseases. If left untreated, she could have faced blindness, lung damage, or even death.
