Biography of Gemma Trotter
Gemma Trotter is a British woman who faced an incredibly difficult choice as a teenager - whether to live with two legs and spend her life in a wheelchair, or amputate one leg and try to live with a prosthetic. Gemma chose the latter option and has never regretted her decision. At 31 years old, Gemma works as a fitness instructor, and the fact that she has only one leg does not hinder her ability to excel in the gym.

Accident and Amputation
Gemma lost her left leg the day before her 16th birthday, after nearly two years of trying to save both legs. Until the age of 14, Gemma had no health problems, but during a trip to Belgium, a terrible accident occurred, which affected Gemma and her parents. She recalls waking up in the hospital, surrounded by people speaking a language she couldn't understand. It was scary, painful, and worrisome, especially since her parents were nowhere to be found. Later on, they were found in another hospital, and Gemma was relieved to learn that her younger brother was unharmed. However, worse news was to come - her left leg was completely shattered, with doctors estimating that her bones were broken in 50 places. Despite the efforts of skilled surgeons to fix her leg, the injuries were too severe, and amputation became the only option.

Life After Amputation
After the amputation, Gemma initially struggled to accept her new reality. She couldn't help but constantly look at her prosthetic leg, and it was during this time that she decided she wanted to become a racing driver. This was an unusual choice, especially after losing her leg in a car accident, but Gemma admits that she has always loved speed. She had a brief career as a race car driver, but ultimately had to give it up as the constant vibrations from the car were causing damage to her prosthetic leg. Eventually, a compromise was found - cycling became her new passion. Gemma got married, had a child, and now works as a fitness instructor in a gym.

Overcoming Challenges
Gemma confidently states that the loss of her leg has not made her life unhappy. On the contrary, it has strengthened her character and taught her to appreciate people, their love, and friendship. She remembers being afraid of the word "amputee" and not wanting to be associated with it, but in the end, she realized that happiness and success in life do not depend on that. Today, Gemma loves her husband and child, loves herself, and loves her life. She is active, works hard, and on special occasions, she enjoys wearing high-heeled shoes, one of which she puts on her bionic prosthetic leg, which she also greatly enjoys.
