Dutch Football Legend: Danny Blind

Danny Blind is an iconic Dutch footballer who made significant contributions to the sport both as a player and a coach.

Playing Career (1986-1996)

During his impressive playing career, Blind represented the Netherlands national team from 1986 to 1996. He stands as one of only six footballers to have won all major European club titles (Champions League, UEFA Cup, Cup Winners' Cup) as well as the UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup.

Coaching Career (2005-2017)

After retiring as a player, Blind embarked on a successful coaching career. He served as head coach of Ajax from 2005 to 2006, leading the team to victory in the Dutch Cup and Super Cup.

Off-Field Incidents

In 2006, Blind faced legal challenges after being involved in a car accident. He was charged three times with driving while intoxicated.

Return to Ajax (2007-2012)

In 2007, Blind returned to his former club Sparta Rotterdam as technical director. He later rejoined Ajax in 2008 as a director.

Assistant Coach for Dutch Team (2012-2015)

Blind joined the coaching staff of the Dutch national team in 2012, serving as an assistant to Louis van Gaal (2012-2014) and Guus Hiddink (2014-2015).

Head Coach of Dutch Team (2015-2017)

In 2015, Blind was appointed head coach of the Netherlands, succeeding Guus Hiddink. His contract lasted until 2018. However, after a disappointing loss to Bulgaria in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Blind was dismissed in 2017.

Family Legacy

Blind comes from a footballing family. His son, Daley, is also a professional footballer.
