Early Career in Brazil and France
Dante began his football journey in various small clubs in Brazil before joining Juventude in 2001. After spending a season with the youth team, he was promoted to the first team. His breakthrough came in his second season, leading to a contract with French club Lille in 2004. However, he made only 12 appearances over two years.
Move to Belgium and Emergence as a Defender
In 2006, Dante signed with Belgian club Charleroi, where he played 23 matches and scored one goal in one year. His technical defending skills caught the attention of Standard Liege, and he moved to the club on December 31, 2006. He debuted against his former team, Charleroi, and made an impact with an assist for Sergio Conceicao in a 5-2 victory. Dante spent two years with Standard Liege, making 63 appearances and scoring two goals, establishing himself as one of the top defenders in the Belgian league.
Career at Borussia Mönchengladbach
