Early Career and Domestic Success

Georgi Kavelashvili, a Soviet and Georgian footballer, began his career at Tbilisi Locomotive. He later joined Dynamo Tbilisi, where he became a six-time Georgian Premier League champion (1990-1995). In 1995, he moved to Spartak-Alania Vladikavkaz, with whom he also won the Russian Premier League title.

International Career

Kavelashvili made his international debut for the Georgian national team in 1992. He represented his country in 46 matches, scoring 9 goals (or 45 matches and 8 goals according to some sources).

Premier League Years and Swiss Stint

In 1996, Kavelashvili made a pivotal move to Manchester City. However, after the club's relegation from the Premier League, he was loaned to Grasshoppers in Switzerland due to insufficient appearances in the English top flight. He spent the following decade playing for various Swiss clubs, establishing himself as a key player.

Return to Russia and Loan to Alania

In the second half of 2004, Kavelashvili was sent on a six-month loan to Alania, where he had enjoyed success earlier in his career. This loan marked his last stint in Russia.
