IntroductionDaria Astafieva is a Ukrainian model and singer, best known as the lead vocalist of the group NikitA. She gained fame after winning the title of Playmate of the Month in the 55th Anniversary issue of Playboy magazine.
Early Life and Education
Daria Astafieva was born on August 4, 1985, in the city of Ordzhonikidze, in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine. Her father worked for the railway, while her mother worked at a greenhouse. As a child, Daria was often teased by her classmates for her face covered in allergies and her thin physique. She was not an exemplary student and often received low grades for her behavior.
After completing school, Daria enrolled in the directing faculty of the Dnipropetrovsk Theater College. She chose this path based on her own interests and passions, following her mother's advice to pursue what she loved.
Music Career
While studying at the directing faculty, Daria had vocal lessons and discovered her passion for singing. After moving to Kyiv, she met producer Yuriy Nikitin, who later offered her a chance to participate in the Ukrainian reality show "Star Factory" in 2007. Although she did not win, Daria gained popularity and eventually became a member of the pop group NikitA, along with Yulia Kavtaradze, a former member of the group A.R.M.I.Y.A. In March 2009, NikitA released their debut album "Machine." The group was also considered to represent Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 but declined the offer due to Daria's growing popularity as a model.
Modeling Career
Daria always dreamt of becoming a Playboy model after discovering a magazine featuring Katarina Witt on the cover at the age of nine. At 16, she participated in a beauty pageant in Dnipropetrovsk, where she was advised by a Danish model to try modeling. During her first photoshoot, the photographer suggested she pose nude, and Daria agreed without hesitation. From the ages of 16 to 20, she had photoshoots almost every day. Her resemblance to American model Betty Page caught the attention of a renowned photographer, leading to her first major photoshoot for Playboy Ukraine in April 2006.
Daria's photos from the Ukrainian edition of Playboy were reprinted in 15 editions of the magazine worldwide. In June 2008, her photos caught the attention of the American edition of Playboy, leading to an invitation to participate in the 55th Anniversary Playmate competition. Daria impressed Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy, and became the first Ukrainian model to be featured in the iconic magazine. She developed a close relationship with Hefner, bonding over their shared interests in music, movies, and books.
Personal Life
Daria Astafieva has not had stable personal relationships. Her first love was a high school sweetheart, with whom she was in a relationship for seven years. She considers herself an independent and strong-willed woman who prefers to have control over her life.
