Daria Ivanova
Biography of Daria Ivanova
Daria Ivanova is a Russian actress who gained recognition for her role as Alice Malysheva in the TV series "Love is Not What It Seems." She began her acting career with small roles in television series such as "Defense Against," "Sea Patrol," and "Railway Workers." However, it was her portrayal of Alice Malysheva that marked her breakthrough in the film industry.

Daria Ivanova graduated from the M.S. Schepkin Higher Theatre School in 2008, where she studied under the guidance of V.I. Korshunov. During her time at the school, she performed in several theatrical productions, including "Summer and Smoke" and "The School of Scandal."
The TV series "Love is Not What It Seems" garnered attention due to its similarity to the popular project "Ugly Betty." This connection was not coincidental, as one of the directors of "Ugly Betty," Sergey Pikalov, served as a producer for the new series. In the show, Daria Ivanova's character, Alice Malysheva, is portrayed as an intelligent and educated woman with a plethora of insecurities due to her weight. In the early episodes, she is fortunate enough to be hired by the prominent company "Knyazev Yard." It is no surprise that she quickly falls in love with her department head, Artem (played by Pavel Barshak).
The casting process for the role of Alice Malysheva was intense, with the creators of the series reviewing nearly three hundred applicants. Initially, they had planned to cast singer Nastya Kochetkova, a graduate of the talent show "Star Factory-4." However, Nastya was busy recording a new album at the time and had to decline the offer. The creators eventually chose Daria Ivanova for the role. The only drawback was that Daria had never been overweight, unlike her character Alice Malysheva. To solve this issue, she wore a special costume made of foam and synthetic materials, which increased her size from a 42 to a 50. Unfortunately, even this costume couldn't protect her from catching a cold. The summer scenes were filmed in late October when the weather was already cold, resulting in a prolonged illness with a high temperature. But that's the extent an actress would go for her role!
The TV series "Love is Not What It Seems" premiered in the summer of 2009 and immediately attracted the attention of millions of viewers, sparking enormous interest in the actress who played the lead role. Daria Ivanova's career continued with various projects, including the TV series "Defense Against" (2007), "Railway Workers" (2007), "Sea Patrol" (2008), "Love is Not What It Seems" (2009), "Sea Patrol 2" (2009), and "City Lights" (2009).
