The 2007-2008 season proved to be a turning point for Brown. His masterful performances as a forward led the Kings to a 33-goal lead, including five goals during the World Championship in Canada. This exceptional play earned him a lucrative six-year contract worth over $19 million.

In October 2008, Brown was appointed captain of the Kings, making him the youngest captain in franchise history and the first to be born in the United States. He led the team to several successful seasons and was selected to play in the World Championship in Switzerland.
