Early Life and Career

David Carney, an Australian footballer, was born in Sydney and began his football career at the age of 16 when he joined the Everton Academy in England. There, he played alongside future England star Wayne Rooney. After three years at Everton, Carney signed with Oldham Athletic in 2003, where he spent one season before moving to Halifax Town in 2004.

Australian Football Journey

In March 2005, Carney returned to Australia and joined Sydney FC. Under the guidance of coach Pierre Littbarski, he helped the club win the OFC Champions League in 2005 and the A-League in 2006.

European Return

In July 2007, Carney made a second move to England, joining Sheffield United. He also spent time on loan at Norwich City before signing with Dutch club Twente in August 2009.

International Career

Carney made his debut for the Australian national team in 2006 and earned 18 caps. He scored his only international goal against Nigeria in November 2007.
